I have a Lacie design by Neil Poulton. Often it does not work - both using the TV and the computer. The blue light is on but the computer shows nothing and the TV shows a knotted screen which does not change

Ok, please try changing the Lacie drive to a different USB port on your computer. Does it work?

Is this hard drive still in warranty? You can try checking the Lacie hard drive with another computer, if no luck again, then it seems the drive is defective. Remember that you need to go to "Computer" or "My Computer" in order to see the Lacie driver (usually Drive D: or E:) and double click it to enter.

For Jose Mari I have pressed the FN and F4 buttons and nothing seems to happen.

For Gabriel - I have a Mac. The driver is not showing up when I go into Finder (the equivalent of My Computer).

Maybe you're right and you have not waited long enough. Anyway, there are components, such as PC and TV that need to be powered in a specific order because otherwise, are not able to transfer signals and are stuck.
