Hello, My wife and I have moved to Spain last May after my college graduation. We got married in April 2015 and decided that it was best for us to move to Spain because of work. As she did not get used to living here, we would like to move back to USA
where she is from (Connecticut). Furthermore, I emailed the US embassy in Spain to ask about whether I needed to apply from Spain or if I should go with a tourist visa
(ESTA) and then apply from the USA. My wife is on vacation now in US to visit her family
and she would like us to start the process soon. The reply from the embassy was: If your intention is to reside in the U.S. your wife must start the process so you can get an immigrant visa. You can see this process in the web page http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/family/immediate-relative.html.
Which leaves me with many questions, does this mean I cannot travel to US and stay with my wife meanwhile this process is taking care of? does this mean I cannot go as a tourist visa and apply from there? does this mean my wife needs to be in the US to apply
for this visa? she has a domicile there how long would this process take? should i get assistance to fill all these forms? In addition, we are expecting a baby for May 7th, would that speed up the process? what are our options? Thank you very much.
