I am an American citizen with Mexican residency living in Cancun

Pregunta del cliente:

I am an American citizen with Mexican residency living in Cancun Mexico. I am considering
Bringing my aging mother to reside with me in Mexico as she can not live on
Her own much longer. She lives in Rhode Island.
1---I need to know what kind of long term
Visa I can get for her to stay with me in Mexico. Is there a special visa if
She qualifies as my dependent?

2----Also will I be able to bring her 2006 Hyundai Elantra to Mexico either under
Her visa or my residency. I know the restrictions on foreigners bringing a US
Automobile have changed in the last few years.

3--- She is 83 years old and has Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI supplemental insurance and receives a small social security payment monthly. My question is if she moves with me to Cancun, will she be able to keep medicare, blue cross and social security benefits and what medical coverage will she have in Mexico?

glzgtzja :

good morning

glzgtzja :

Are you expecting she can be a mexican resident?

glzgtzja :

she can be with you as a tourist as long as 6 months after that she needs to go back to US and fly or drive back again to Mexico

glzgtzja :

the medicare blue cross and all that stuff except for the social security payment are not valid in Mexico. To receive the money, a lot of people fly to the US or cross the border to sign tue social security papers so they can prove the goverment they are alive and keep receiving the money

glzgtzja :

As a tourist your mother can temporaly import that car, but you need to send it back when your mother goes back to US eache period of 6 months. Also its a car not sold in Mexico so if it brokes down it will be hard to find the autoparts it gets worst in Cancun considering its far away from the border

glzgtzja :

the federal benefits office of the US goverment in Mexico City can help you with that, its possible that she can go to Mexico City to sign all the paperwork instead of travelling to the states

Customer: a few more questions in reference to the car if I change the title to my name as a Mexican resident can I have the car here?
Customer: What would it involve to get my mom residency since as she gets older she may not be able to fly to the US every 6 months. Now we can fly to Fla but in the future I can see that as a problem thank you
Customer: Her social security payments are deposited directly in her bank acct that we will be keeping open thank you
glzgtzja :

Hi welcome back if the car was made in Mexico Canada or USA you can import it as you are a resident. The cars vin number should start with a number 1 2 or 3 if it starts with a K The car was made on south korea since hyundai its a brand from that country.

glzgtzja :

about the social security payment, call the federal benefits office in mexico city u.s. embassy maybe they can allow your mother so she can sign the surveillence papers on cancun's u.s.a. consular agency i think thats the only option available considering her age.s

glzgtzja :

any other question please ask. if you dont have anymore please rank my job thanks have a nice day

Customer: Thank you. So as a resident I can bring the car? I assume it has to be titled in my name, correct?
Customer: the only other question was if I can get residency for my mom
Customer: ok since I am a resident I can bring the car but I assume I have to change the title to my name correct?
Customer: the only other question was if it is possible to get residency for my mom and if so what is the procedure?
Customer: thank you
glzgtzja :

yes she can be a resident, because she is retired right now, just present the bank account balance papers where she receives her social security payments to prove she has an income and the instituto nacional de migración will authorize that its not complicated. If you wanna import the car change the title to your name

glzgtzja :

her monthly income must be at least 2500 after taxes the permanent resident authorization is done onthe mexican council office in boston fore more info check out this linkconsulmex.sre.gob.mx/washington/index.php/en/component/content/article/171
