He was working with a company which sold cards for charging cellulars. All began when he went to sell to a dangerous neighborhood and in one ocassion he was asked for money, he gave them money just one time, but then he refuses to continue selling at this neighborhood and we do not know how they know about all of my brother. First, his motorcycle was theft, he was being persecuted all the time. A complaint was put at the Human Rights but the persecution continues, they know everything about my brother. One day he was hit very hard and was hospitalized 6 days. Since that day his life is in danger. We suppose are gangs after him asking for money, we consider is an extorsion. He was caught on August of this year.
Unfortunately, that doesn't sound like persecution to me. That sounds like a local police problem even though the police doesn't do anything or is ineffective. I just want you to understand because often people will spend thousands of dollars on attorneys and then when the attorney doesn't do anything, "Mi abogado no servia para nada. No izo nada!" The problem is that often nothing can be done except buy time to stay longer in the U.S. and hope for some reform. So let me explain the situation. To win an Asylum, one must prove that they are being persecuted or have a well-founded fear of persecution if returned to their home country and that the persecution is on the count of their race, religion, nationality, social group or political opinion. At best, XXXXX XXXXX thing he could claim is perhaps social group, that being people that are extored, but honestly, that group is too broad, not well-defined and that is the category that most often loses. I just want you to understand what you are getting into when you hire an attorney and pay them thousands of dollars. Don't expect too much. Take a look at the statistics:
In 2012, from Honduras, 1275 applications for Asylum were submitted and only 93 were approved. So now you understand how difficult it is. Here is another link with more information:
