Yes all four worked perfectly until recently, but one by one they have stopped working. the last one to stop working was 2 days ago.

What are you plugin on USB port? pendrive, mouse, etc?

Yes I use Windows XP


I used the one remaining working port up until 2 days ago when it stopped working.


Yes I have done a system restore recently one week ago



I do not think the ports are loose because I get message saying "USB PORT NOT RECOGNISED. which I do not think I would get if they were loose.



According to the information that you are providing, looks like the USB ports driver is damaged.

This is what we are going to do, basicaly, we are going to re-install the USB drivers.

The main work is going to be done by the "Plug and Play" feature of Windows XP, so I need you to help me to remove the damaged USB drivers.

1st) Click over the "Start" Icon

2nd) right click over "My computer" and click over "Properties", the last option of the menu.

3rd) Click over "Hardware" and then over "Device Manager"

4th) Locate the "Universal Serial Bus" group and click over the plus sign (+)

5th) Right click over every USB driver and "Un-install" them all.

After all these is done, turn off the computer, wait one minute and turn it on.

Windows is going to recognice the ports and install them as new.

If this does not work, write me the brand and model of your computer, because we are going to download the USB drivers for your PC.

Try to follow the instructions, if you have any inquiry, ask me about it, I'll do my best to assist you.

I did as you explained, I uninstalled and reinstalled the USBs. A very interesting excerisise, but unfortunately it did not work. (very dissappointing). However, Here are the details of my computer:

It is a ADVENT 7105

It also has a label which says MOBILE AMD SEMPRON 3000+ if this information is of any use to you. Hope to hear from you soon.
